Derrick Lewis reveals sudden change of ways to protect his reputation despite his fan favorite status

During his time in the UFC, Derrick Lewis was one of the most consistent attractions of the promotion.

Heavyweight battles are always a go-to headliner because of the chances of a knockout and Lewis knows more about it than anyone else.

Fans who attend UFC Nashville on Saturday evening hope for a new vintage 'The Black Beast' version when Lewis is confronted with rising heavyweight Tallison Teixeira.

Although his knockouts certainly help, the favorite of the fans is not loved by the fans, only for his ability to end the fight at any time.

Lewis' approach to fighting and hilarious interviews have made him one of the greatest personalities in sport, but we may not see that on July 12.

Derrick Lewis says he is trying to be more 'aware' to embarrass his children

In a recent interview with Shakiel Mahjouri for UFC Nashville, Derrick Lewis was asked which iconic line of his children is most embarrassed.

'The Black Beast' has been demonstrably known for some of his memorable post-fighting interviews, because he has his knockout record.

However, Lewis has tried to make a change in his ways recently, which means that we may not get a other viral explanation after the fight.

He stated that although it can be difficult to control your emotions after a fight, he tries to be more aware at these moments, so that he does not cause a second -hand shame.

“So that's why I don't do it anymore. I don't do that anymore. I never think about it at the moment, but then I think about it, damn it, I'm sorry.”

Lewis specifically referred to how his antics can influence his children or his reputation after a fight when he is in public around people who may have seen what he is doing for a living.

“They are older now, so I try to be aware of the things I do, because they want me to go to their school events and things like that. So I really don't think until I am as a man, wait, these parents are around my age, so they know about everything I do and say. So I am like I have to take a step back.”

Derrick Lewis was happy to find some more information about his next opponent

Derrick Lewis may try to be more aware, but that does not mean that he has completely changed his approach to fighting.

'The Black Beast' often does not know much about his opponents, although he has revealed in the interview that he is aware that Tallison Teixeira is a 6'7 ″ Brazilian.

What he did not know, what he was surprised and happy to find out is that the man who will stand opposite him in Nashville is also a striker who has not tried a Takedown in his UFC career so far.

“Oh good. What? A Brazilian striker? That is rare.”
