Disney+ to stream live European football each weekend in major schedule shake-up

Top Spanish clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona go to Disney+ while the streamer lands a three -year -old deal with La Liga.

Disney+ has announced a large stir in his schedule, including the addition of live European Football. From Saturday (August 16) the streamer will start his live weekend report of the Spanish La Liga.

This means that some of the biggest names in club football are shown on the platform, including people like Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Valencia Real Sociedad will organize the first competition to be broadcast on Disney+ in the iconic Mestalla Stadium, with Kick -off set at 8:30 pm in the UK.

La Liga games are available with a regular Disney+ subscription, which starts at £ 4.99 per month for a rolling monthly plan that can be canceled at any time. Customers can also get the two-month equivalent for free by paying a year in advance for the standard or premium plan.

This plan offers a higher video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR, and 12 months before the price of 10. Production and commentary during La Liga games will be provided by ESPN, with a line-up of well-known voices, including Real Madrid and Liverpool legend Steve McManaman leading the team.

He plays next to the former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder Stewart Robson, while broadcasters Ian Darke and Rob Palmer change play-by-play tasks throughout the season.

Disney's La Liga coverage is part of a new three-year-old deal and when the streamer also becomes the home of UEFA Women's Champions League throughout Europe from October. Football fans who want to coordinate with the new Premier League season must, however, secure a Sky Sports subscription, whereby the broadcaster increases its reporting this season to 215 games.

According to Disney+, La Liga is the most followed International Football League in the UK. This is stimulated by high-profile signing sessions from English players, including Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold, both of whom play for Real Madrid, while Marcus Rashford starts his loan period in Barcelona.

Popular Spanish players also contribute to the allure of the competition, with home -grown talents, including Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Nico Williams (Athletic Club) and Alex Baena (Atlético Madrid). However, fans must take into account that Disney+ does not broadcast every LA Liga match, with only selected Saturday evening matches selected for broadcast.

Karl Holmes, General Manager, Disney+ EMEA, said: “At Disney we celebrate stories that move and excite. From the cinematic scale of FX's Alien: Earth to the Sharp Wit of only murders in the building and the promotional tension of Lucasfilm's Andor, our customers know they are in something special.

Now that Laliga participated in the line-up, they can experience the same excitement on the field with weekly competitions with legendary clubs such as Real Madrid and Barcelona and stars such as Jude Bellingham and Trent Alexander-Arnold as part of their Disney+ subscription. “

In addition to La Liga, the Disney+ Library includes everything, from documentaries to much -acclaimed drama, comedy to classical animation. Also on the way are the new SCI-Fi series Alien: Earth (13 August), the second episode of National Geographic Docuseries Limitless: Live Better Now with Chris Hemsworth (15 August) and season five of some murders in the building (September 9).
