Dominick Reyes fires shots at Jon Jones as he reminisces over their controversial fight ahead of return at UFC 310

Even though several years have passed, Dominick Reyes is still convinced he should have made the decision against Jon Jones in what would have been the biggest upset in MMA history.

In just a few hours, Dominick Reyes will return to the octagon to take on Anthony Smith in what should be an entertaining fight.

The big match at UFC 310, inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, could be the last chance for these two men to propel themselves up the rankings towards a title shot.

While Reyes never claimed the title of the world's premier mixed martial arts organization, in his opinion and in the eyes of many, he should have done so the night he fought Jon Jones.

In a performance fans will never forget, 'The Dominator' produced a magnificent show, dropping 'Bones' en route to what many believed would be his crowning moment.

Unfortunately, when the judges' scores were read out, they allowed the champion to keep his belt, leaving the challenger and even the MMA community furious.

Regardless, Jones continued to win fights, and in the time since, the contender has struggled to get another shot at the belt.

In saying that, fans can still remember how they felt that night, with the events that transpired still leaving a bitter taste in their mouths.

During a UFC broadcast promoting tonight's card, Daniel Cormier asked the crowd, “Who thought Dominick Reyes beat Jon Jones?”

The question provoked a huge response, with the audience answering in the affirmative. Following this, the former two-weight world champion asked Reyes if he still believed he should have raised his hand.

Without any hesitation, the 34-year-old took aim at his rival, claiming that deep down he knew he had not won that match.

Reyes claimed, “Oh, absolutely, I got it done that night. When you fight someone you know what happens, whether it's sparring or training, you know who got the upper hand during the exchanges. I went out and brought it to him.”

Now that he's cemented his place as one of the greatest mixed martial artists who ever lived, you'd expect Jones to exude confidence.

After all, this is a man who has seen almost every style imaginable and always finds a way to adapt.

However, he wasn't exactly optimistic during his fight with Reyes, with legend revealing exactly what was going through his mind during the heat of battle.
