Dominick Reyes hits back at former rival Jon Jones’s online challenge ahead of UFC 314 return

Former UFC Light Heavyweight Title Challenger Dominick Reyes responded to Jon Jones' Sarcastic 'rock, paper, scissors' challenge.

The careers of Dominick Reyes and Jon Jones will always be coupled after their legendary collision at UFC 247. In what demonstrable was the most difficult Octagon test of Jones, he defeated Reyes by a unanimous decision, despite many believing that Reyes earned the nodards of the jury.

Reyes never got an immediate rematch with Jones when the last came to heavyweight after UFC 247. Jones then won the empty heavyweight title on UFC 285, while Reyes lost in his second light heavyweight title fight against Jan Bachowicz.

Five years away from their UFC 247 collision, the tensions remain between Reyes and Jones, especially after Reyes had recovered 'theft' while he prepares for UFC 314.

Dominick Reyes says that Jon Jones is uncertain about UFC 247 Fight

In a recent podcast interview, Reyes claimed that he was 'mentally and physically stronger' than Jones and he doubled his point of view that he 'defeats' the UFC goat. This led to a quick response from Jones on social media, in which he challenged Reyes for a 'rock, paper, scissors' competition and stated that he would defeat his former rival in every competition.

During his UFC 314 Media Day, Reyes responded to the online Taunts of Jones.

“With regard to Jon Jones, we are forever locked up in this moment, whether he likes it or not,” said Reyes about Jones. “It was a legendary fight, it will go in history as a legendary version alone, and he is not happy that people will forever say that he has not won that fight.

“What he has to say is what he has to say, but I know who I am and what happened, and that is the end!”

Reyes will be confronted with Nikita Krylov on UFC 314 this Saturday in Miami. A victory could move it back in the light heavyweight title mix and a step closer to the redemption.

UFC CEO Dana White revealed after Jones vs. Reyes that he had Reyes won the fight, but that Jones dominated the championship rounds. He initially praised a rematch as the next light heavyweight title fight before Jones chose to leave the belt.

It is expected that Jones will return later this year in a heavyweight title Unification Bout against Tom Aspinall. The two parties have been in active negotiations with the UFC buyer in the hope of having the heavyweight fight take place, but Aspinall has accused Jones of postponing the booking.

Jones successfully defended his heavyweight belt against Stipe Miocic on UFC 309, before he postponed his pension plans for at least one fight in the Octagon. An earlier pitchedowing with Alex Pereira was concluded after the loss of Pereira at UFC 313, so that all focus was aimed at booking the Aspinall fight.

Despite the uncertainty of an upcoming announcement of the battle, Aspinall remains optimistic about the Jones fight that flourishes. The matchup may be aimed at the International Fight Week card of the UFC on UFC 317 in Las Vegas, although nothing has been set from this letter.
