Dortmund director confirms Jamie Gittens stance after failed Chelsea transfer

Chelsea hopes to sign Jamie Gittens this summer, but Borussia Dortmund has so far rejected their claims and Sporting Director Sebastien Kehl has given an update

Borussia Dortmund -Chef Sebastien Kehl has spoken about the future of Jamie Gittens after his move to Chelsea had fallen before the club World Cup. Gittens had agreed personal conditions with the blues and seemed to have his heart put on a move to Stamford Bridge.

Dortmund, however, rejected a bid of £ 42 million for the 20-year-old earlier this month, because the Bundesliga side holds a higher fee. As a result, Gittens traveled with Dortmund to the club World Cup and came from the bank in their opening match against Fluminense who ended 0-0.

And Dortmund -sports director Kehl has now lifted the lid during conversations he held with Gittens in the aftermath of the failed bid of Chelsea. “We have had one or two conversations with Jamie in recent days,” Kehl told Fussbal Transfers, according to Sport Witness.

“He is professional enough to know that he has to perform. That is also in his nature. Jamie will be important to us in this tournament. And we will see what happens next. But I don't see him as negative.”

Discussions remain underway between the two clubs about a deal, in which Chelsea wants to sign a new winger after Mykhailo Mudryk was charged by the football club due to a failed drug test.

Mudryk tested positively for a forbidden substance in November and has not been playing for Chelsea since. The blues are planning for life after Mudryk with the 24-year-old who is now confronted with a ban of four years and Gittens is their top goal.

“We had had a whole season without Mischa. We are going to decide to go for a winger,” Chelsea -Baas and so Maresca confirmed. “In both cases we have Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto as the right wing players, then we try to adapt with Tyrique George.

“It is a position we need to improve. I spoke with Mischa in Poland when we played the final of the Conference League [on May 28]. I haven't spoken to him since that time. To be honest, I didn't see the news.

“They communicated me last night. But there is nothing that I can add at the moment because I have no more information about it. The last time I spoke with Mischa, as I said, was in Poland and he was pretty good.

“I didn't see him worried if I didn't see him well. He was good, he was fine. Since that day I have not spoken to him, so I don't know what he is now. But certainly in the following days, and we will have contact with him immediately.”
