Drenthe backs Barca for Champions League glory ahead of PSG

Former Real Madrid -midfielder Royston Drenthe believes that Barcelona are the favorites to win the Champions League.

Drenthe claimed that Paris Saint-Germain left the strongest team in the competition, but called Barca's experience to win competition as crucial.

The Hansi Flick team was involved in a fascinating first leg meeting with Inter last week and played a 3-3 draw in which Lamine Yamal is central.

Leaga Leiders Barca will make the trip to San Siro on Tuesday, hoping to book their place in the final in Munich later this month.

Barca indeed reaches the final in 55% of the data-conducted simulations of Opta and get a chance of winning of 27% to lift the crown according to the supercomputer, a total that is only improved by PSG (42%).

The side of Luis Enrique is now taking a 1-0 lead on the way to their second stage with Arsenal and achieved their first victory over the Gunners at the sixth attempt.

The recently crowned Ligue 1 champions made an impression in the knockout phases of the competition, which have finished 15th in the competition phase of the tournament.

PSG has already eliminated Liverpool and Aston Villa, while they also recorded a 10-0 total victory over Brest in the play-off round.

“Well, I see Barcelona as the favorites because Barcelona knows what it means to win the Champions League,” Drenthe told Statistics.

“I see Paris Saint-Germain as one of the strongest teams, with a lot of quality, a lot of quality, with a lot of speed and also with a great team.

“I think Luis Enrique has worked very well in the years that he has been there and also that PSG has taken the time to build a team, because he also suffered in the early years, but at the moment they have a great team, and they have players such as Messi, Neymar, Mbappe.”

Drenthe added that PSG's Ousmane Dembele was the best player in the competition, despite the series of attacking options available to Barca.

His winner in the first stage was his eighth goal in the Champions League this season-all Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored more in one campaign for PSG (10 in 2013-14).

In addition, Drenthe emphasized the talented young duo of Desire Done and Bradley Barcola.

“I think the best player is Dembele at the moment,” said Drenthe.

“But for example the young players such as Doue and the other Barcola, in midfield, Vitinha and those players. I think they have the strongest team.”

However, Drenthe does not have a discount on the opportunities of Inter to make Barca Van Streek, with Simone Inzaghi's side who wanted to reach the final for the third time in their history.

Inter are undefeated in their last 15 Home Champions League matches (W12 D3), their best unbeaten series in large European competition since a series of 27 between 1980 and 1987.

They also won nine of their last 11 semi -final matches in Europe (D1 L1), and Drenthe said that if they beat Barca, they will win the Champions League.

“Barca can win the Champions League again, and well, I think a club like Inter, they are like a rocket,” Drenthe added.

If they win against Barca, they win the Champions League, but it will be difficult.

“I think Barca will play great there in Milan, because you have to understand, if you score three goals, and you still don't win the game, well then, those are things, those are problems.

“That is because Barcelona is a strong club, it is very difficult to win and also with boys like Pedri, Lamine Yamal and the team they have.”
