Dricus Du Plessis completes monstrous 45lb weight cut for UFC 319 to secure Khamzat Chimaev main event

Dricus Du Plessis had fans wait as he made an official weight for UFC 319 after a debilitating cut of more than 230 pounds to reach the middleweight limit of 185 pounds.

The South African never missed weight, but admitted in a recent interview that he had to drop 45 pounds to make the limit for this weekend with Khamzat Chimaev. Of the two, the challenger is better known for weight problems, especially with good weight before he goes up.

“Then we start cutting off in the camp and at the moment my weight is on track, it is perfect where I need to be at this stage of the fight. We are now ten days from Weegs and this is where the difficult part starts. I am preparing my body to cut that water and put it safely.”
