Dricus Du Plessis explains gameplan for potential Khamzat Chimaev fight as he names surprising preferred location

On Saturday, Dricus Du Plessis successfully defended his middleweight title for the second time when he dominated Sean Strickland in their rematch on UFC 312.

In anticipation of their second collision in the cage, Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland came up with their rivalry by promising a war this time after their first collision at UFC 297 largely disappointed.

The South African champion kept his promise when he dominated Strickland for most of their five-round main event and his nose broke in the fourth round.

After the fight, Du Plessis agreed to fight against light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, who was in Strickland's corner.

Dana White states that he will discuss the next fight by Du Plessis on Tuesday

Nevertheless, Pereira will defend his title against Magomed Ankalaev on UFC 313, which means that a fight against Du Plessis is currently a long chance.

With that, Du Plessis, prior to his Rematch against Strickland, admitted that he would have '100%' preferred to fight Khamzat Chimaev after 'Borz' emphatic victory over Robert Whittaker.

Although the middleweight champion apparently verbally matched to fight Pereira, UFC boss Dana White had hinted that instead they will have the long-awaited fight between 'Still Knocks' and the Chechen.

“Yes (Du Plessis vs Chimaev is a pretty big fight), but we will talk about it on Tuesday,” White admitted in the press conference after the fight.

Dricus Du Plessis reveals his game plan and the preferred location against Chimaev

Because Du Plessis will probably defend his title against the unbeaten Chimaev, he has revealed what his game plan will go to that fight.

The champion has previously explained how fighters are too worried about wrestling with Chimaev, but he is willing to try to surpass the dominant grappler.

“Compare the puncture, oh no, that was the game plan for Strickland, just let me think about something. De Blitz, no, (that was) Rob. Yes, I will just do it, that's the game plan, “he said in his press conference after the fight.

The promotion has been hinting for several years in organizing an event in Africa and now seems to be the perfect time with 'still knows' that continue to grow in star.

Du Plessis has admitted that he would be willing to fight at a Fight Night event in South Africa instead of defending his title on a large PPV card, because he finally wants to bring the UFC to the continent.

“I really want to fight badly in South Africa and Africa, it is just as a dream of mine as being and keeping the world title.

“The Khamzat fight, no matter how big it is, the international fighting week would clearly be great, but I promise you, what is the international fighting week if I can do this in Africa? I don't even care, I will take a fighting evening in South Africa instead of the International Vechtweek, “he said.

'Stillknocks', however, surprisingly admitted that instead of fighting Chimaev in South Africa, he would rather fight him against him in Saudi Aarabia, to 'conquer' another area.

“In Saudi I certainly take 100%on a PPV in Saudi. I even prefer that. To defeat him and to conquer another place, yes, perfect. '
