On UFC 318 an incredible career came to an emotional end in New Orleans.
Although there were times when Dustin Poirier's pension fight could have ended badly for him, he received a remarkable broadcast last month.
'The Diamond' made it clear in advance that this would be the last outing of his career, regardless of the outcome of his BMF title fight.
Poirier has set all his sights on a career path that will keep him busy now that he will no longer be an active hunter, but he does have other activities away from mixed martial arts that he is retained.

Dustin Poirier admits that he always goes back and forth about his decision to retire from MMA
In 2018, Dustin Poirier and his wife founded the Good Fight Foundation, a charity that he continued to run during his time as one of the top stars on the UFC selection.
'The Diamond' stated after his retirement that the charity would continue now that he could give it a little more time, although it would no longer be given some exposure by talking to him about what they are working on during the media attention he would get in the UFC.
One of the characteristics of the charity is their back-to-school Supply Drive, where the Good Fight Foundation is able to give away backpacks that contain essential supplies to families who need support.
On August 5, Poirier was there to carry out their fifth annual back-to-school event where he gave some thoughts to the local newsstation Klefy.com.
When he was asked about his recent pension and how he felt since UFC 318, he admitted that his attitude towards the gloves has been alternated for good since his last dance.
“I feel good. Most of my injuries of the fight are almost disappeared. My hand is still a bit painful, but everything is good. The pension is coming in waves. One day I think doing garden work, the next day I will be, I have to be in the gym. It's a bit like I'm fighting against myself, but it is what it is.”
Fans praise Dustin Poirier for continuing his charity work after retirement
While Dustin Poirier UFC fans gave a number of incredible memories during his career, the amount of love and respect that was for him when he retired was not just because of what he achieved in the Octagon.
Whether it is about his charity or the way he has behaved, fans and his colleagues clearly keep 'the diamond' in high appreciation.
This was reflected in the answers on the video posted by Klefy's Johnathan Bulot, who showed that Poirier performed the back-to-school Drive.
“Class act always.”
'You can't hate the diamond. Really one of the best hunters of all time, no wonder why every opponent he was confronted respects him. '
“How could you hate this man.”
“Diamonds are forever.”
