Dustin Poirier names ‘killer’ teammate who ‘doesn’t get talked about enough’ as UFC’s most underrated fighter

Former UFC star Dustin Poirier does not believe that a lightweight will get the flowers he deserves.

Poirier trained with some of the best in the game during his career, most of which were spent under the banner of the American top team in Coconut Creek, Florida.

During his last years 'The Diamond' de Matten with a number of his fellow –fc light weights, in which one of his most important training partners is an old figure in the top 10 of the division in the Mateusz gamrot of Poland.

But when mentioning the “most undervalued” hunter who is currently competing in the organization while he is in Chicago for this weekend's UFC 319-per-view, Poirier chose another teammate.

Dustin Poirier took Grant Dawson as the 'most underrated UFC hunter'

Poirier was asked to choose a name in that category in addition to other quick-fire questions during an interview for the ESPN MMA Youtube channel. The favorite of the Louisianan fan pointed in a name that he is known in ranked lightweight Grant Dawson.

“The most underrated hunter in the UFC? Bro, there are so many good guys,” Poirier began.

'Let's go with someone I know: Grant Dawson.

“He is not spoken enough,” Poirier added. “He is a murderer and is certainly dedicated to the game.”

'KGD' is currently the No. 14 candidate at 155 pounds, after he has prepared his way back in the ranking with three victories in a row against Joe Solecki, Rafa Garcia and Diego Ferreira.

Prior to his current run, Dawson's brutal knockout loss marked his first loss in 13 fights in 2023 and so far only setbacks in the UFC.

Poirier thinks that his old teammate apparently has been recovered in an impressive way, and clearly thinks more recognition.

Dustin Poirier's first role Since retirement comes on UFC 319

It didn't take long before Poirier got his first performance since he withdrew from mixed martial arts.

'The Diamond' headed UFC 318 against Max Holloway last July. After losing the score cards, Poirier laid down his gloves and retired, putting an end to his memorable and long career on the largest stage of sport.

There were quickly questions about the next step from Poirier, and it seems that a company will keep it close to the promotion in the UFC.

Poirier will work as a UFC 319 analyst for ESPN, a role that he has fulfilled a few times in the past and has hesitated, a regular can be prevented.
