Atletico Madrid spent a lot of money last summer when the likes of Julian Alvarez, Conor Gallagher and Alexander Sorloth were brought to the Metropolitano. This spending spree has left the club's bank balance low, although it has been replenished somewhat.
In August, Atleti reached a deal with RB Leipzig for Arthur Vermeeren. The Belgian midfielder had only joined from Royal Antwerp in January, but was sent to Germany on a first loan, although a purchase clause was also included.
According to MD, that purchase clause, which is worth twenty million euros, became mandatory when Vermeeren played twenty times, which happened on Friday in Leipzig's match against Borussia Dortmund. As such, a deal has now become permanent.
This money will be used by Atletico Madrid to balance the books, although it could also be used for signings in 2025. It remains to be seen how it will be used.
