Over the past two to three years, Martin Zubimendi has been regularly linked with a move away from Real Sociedad. The likes of Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool have all made attempts to lure him away from his boyhood club, and while all attempts have failed so far, this has not deterred some interested parties.
Manchester City are one of the clubs most interested in signing Zubimendi at the moment, as they see him as the ideal player to replace Rodri Hernandez, who is out for the rest of the season after a serious knee injury. However, The Telegraph has reported that the La Real kingpin is not convinced about a move to the Premier League champions as he does not want to be seen as an understudy.
Real Sociedad continue to insist on keeping Zubimendi, although they would be powerless to stop him leaving if anyone were to trigger his €60 million release clause. It remains to be seen if anyone tries to do this in 2025.
