Ange Postecoglou believes that Tottenham is an easy target for experts who have arrived for strong criticism in the aftermath of the EFL-Halve final loss of Thursday in Liverpool.
Tottenham went in the second stage of their last four draw with a 1-0 advantage, but they were blown away by the Premier League leaders in an extensive 4-0 defeat.
For the first time in no game under Postcoglou, Spurs could record a single shot on goal, with their five shots of only 0.18 expected goals (XG) to the 3.72 of Liverpool.
Speaking in his role as Sky Sports Pundit, said former Spurs -midfielder Jamie Redknapp that he had never seen a team “with less fight” than the men of Postecoglou.
Liverpool -legend Jamie Carragher laughed in the idea that the result once was questioning and said: “It's Tottenham. When does Tottenham ever win a big game? When do Tottenham ever surprise you?”
Carragher also claimed that Liverpool was more for a challenge in the January Cup victory of January at League Two Accrington Stanley than Thursday.
AcCHRNTON registered more shots (eight), a larger XG -Totaal (0.24) and more accents in the Liverpool area (13 to eight) in that competition than Tottenham did this week.
But when he spoke during a press conference to view the FA Cup -similar play on Sunday against Aston Villa, Postecoglou said that the external sound had not influenced him.
“I get the pile right now, it's really easy for people to put their boots in and to question the players, but I don't do that,” Postecoglou said on Friday.
“It's not about taking it on my shoulders. On Thursday evening I will not direct what I do and think about.
“We are currently an easy marking, it is clear that making a semi -final is an absolute disaster.
“We were disappointed that it was not the way we wanted and we did not perform at the levels we wanted, but that does not define this group of players.”
Postecoglou, who does not expect the wounded players of Spurs to return this weekend and then suggested that the semi -final had blown up the expectations around the club.
“I assume that the semi -final would not have brought us to a better place. But that is the way people see us right now,” he added.
“If we have a disappointing night, as we did last night, everyone gives the chance to go as fast as possible. That's fine.
“There is only one way to change that, that is with us, just by going back and playing the football that I know and getting a result on Sunday.”
