Paul Merson of Sky Sports believes that the signing of Ebereechi Eze Arsenal can bring this season to the Premier League title.
The Gunners pay a guaranteed £ 60 million plus £ 7.5 million in add-ons for the attacker, with personal conditions that have now been almost fully agreed. Eze's Arsenal Medical could take place as soon as Friday.
Merson insists that Eze is moving to Arsenal a “game changer” with the former shooter who suggests that the English international could be a key figure in breaking down stubborn defenses, especially in the Emirates Stadium.
'X-Factor Eze can bring Arsenal to title'
“Eze is a brilliant signature for Arsenal,” said Merson. “It is a game changer and a perfect fit.
“If Arsenal had let him get, I should have wondered what the club did because he is a quality player.
“Arsenal struggles when teams come to the Emirates and put everyone behind the ball. Teams want to limit the space where Arsenal has to play and they have trouble breaking teams with that tactic.
“We have seen it in recent years where they have had trouble breaking down teams when it immediately comes to the business end of a competition and the business end of a season.
“For me, Eze comes to Arsenal,” he added. “He has the X factor and in tight, tight games he has the option to break down a layer of block.
“He may not be the answer away from home. Towards people like Liverpool and Man City, they can get under the Cosh for a while and they might have to play something else.
“But that's why you have a big team. At home, against the smaller teams, where they have 70 to 80 percent of the ball, let Eze do what he wants because he will let something happen.”
When asked whether Eze can be a difference maker in Arsenal's offer on the title, Merson said: “I think Arsenal wins the competition with Eze.
“They had a chance without him because it is a real heads or tails season with Liverpool, and Man City played well in the opening weekend, but Eze helps them get over the line.”
Electric Eze will unlock the defense for Arsenal
Sky Sports' Peter Smith:
Ebereechi Eze is electric. The 27-year-old is a pleasure to look with his balance and Swagger on the ball and craft to open defenses, not to mention his preference for scoring spectacular strikes themselves.
He finished last season as one of the most popular prospects in the country and scored in six games in a row, including both the FA Cup semi -final and final at Wembley when he helped Crystal Palace inspire their very first great honor ever.
Last season, however, not all was just sailing. “I think Ebere had a strange season at the end of March,” said Paleisbaas Glasner. “He has not had many goals in the Premier League and he has had bad luck, but he continues. He is also struggling with strange injuries.”
Those comments came after Eze Palace had inflamed in a FA Cup -Stropdas in Fulham, scored one and set up another. That striking display came on the back of a first goal for England. Fit and full of confidence, Eze was back at his best during the run-in.
It is that Livewire Maverick Arsenal hope that I can unlock deep defenses and bring a spark to their previously predictable attack patterns. He offers something very different from Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, the current wide left-wing options and Viktor Gyokeres will enjoy the prospect to lock to the type of fitting that has been so productive for Jean-Philippe Mateta.
After he was released by the Gunners as a 13-year-old, Eze will be motivated to seize a second chance in North London and in his Prime, he seems to do exactly that and to have a big impact on Mikel Arteta.
