Carlo Ancelotti's term of office when Brazil Boss started an unfavorable start because the Selecao was held by Ecuador in Conmebol Fifa World Cup Qualifying (WCQ), with the result that the hostless H2H -Run of the hosts expanded to 14 games.
Set aside with veteran striker Enner Valencia and goalkeeper Hernan Galindez wounded at global warming, Ecuador had some selection problems. Gonzalo Valle stepped in the XI for a senior international debut, but he and the opposite song Alisson were largely unused in a Cagey opening period that saw the possession of Ecuador control.
Their insured nature on the ball was almost undone at the center point of the first half when Pervis Estupinan was caught by Estevao in his own third, but after Gerson Vinicius Junior Fed, Valle rushed to suffocate the effort.
Returning to a Brazilian side that had all four WCQ matches lost against Top Half opposition in the current cycle, Casemiro then went wide on the back post, while it only came to the goal on the goal before HT came from John Yeboah's harmless way.
A lack of quality in the last third part, in combination with the fact that only one of the previous 11 WCQ matches from Ecuador scored both teams, set up well for someone to be a hero in the second half and decide the match in favor of their country.
A gloomy opening to the second period, however, made the first corpses on top class entertainment, with the first shot after the restart that only arrived in the 67th minute.
Again, it was Yeboah who shot Tamely on Alisson, while Ecuador continued to appear the more positive side without creating anything clearly. A desperate Brazilian attacking display threatened to come to life 15 minutes after time when VinÃcius's cuts for ex-real Madrid found teammate Casemiro, but his low drive was comfortably collected by Valle.
Alisson then dived left from the left to thwart the long-distance ride of Estupiñán and put his honest share to help Brazil to resist late pressure and to protect a draw that leaves them in their last five WCQ matches.
Despite their recent struggles, the five-fold champions remain on track to reach the World Cup Final, where Ecuador will almost certainly be for a second consecutive edition, after they have expanded their undefeated WCQ-home run to 14 games.
