Eddie Howe has opened how Newcastle Arsenal defeated in the semi -final of the Carabao Cup.
The Magpies had a 2-0 lead on the Gunners on their way to Wednesday's second stage in St James' Park and drove to victory, won with the same score thanks to goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon.
Howe's side – who are in the Carabao Cup final for the second time in three years – now plays Tottenham or Liverpool in the showpiece event on Sunday 16 March.
And after the game, the 47-year-old thought about the victory and revealed that Newcastle only had two days to work on the new system they used for the collision.
“We had three training sessions,” said Howe, who used a back five against the Gunners, to Sky Sports.
“We trained this morning. Those three sessions could repeat us and perform the players.
'The work [on the game plan] Started on Monday, which is fast. The Champions League helped us last year to work on that two -day change.
'We adjust things, depending on the opposition. We thought we needed more heights in the team, we wanted firmness in the back and we had to change to win the game.
'The players followed the instruction to the letter, they earn the credit. Fabian [Schar] Had great distances to cover in his work, following Declan Rice whether he fell low or went wide or went centrally.
“Sometimes he went straight across the field. He is a good athlete and is very able to do it. '
Newcastle rode through the second half of the collision, where Arsenal never looked like finding out what was a tough evening for the side of Mikel Arteta.
Several players have placed under the PAR versions, including the reliable centerback coupling of William Saliba and Gabriel, who had difficulty dealing with Alexander Isak.
And Howe revealed that the Newcastle game plan contained a certain strategy for the defenders.
“It was a great evening for us,” he added. “It was a difficult game, but we were tactically good. The intention was to be aggressive and sometimes it doesn't always work when you do that. Today it did.
“I thought it helped to strengthen our plan. We sometimes had to withdraw, but we were always in the game.
'We wanted to be busy [William Saliba and Gabriel] And to do that we had to get bodies in the right areas and press high – that's how we decided to do it.
'You know that you play against Elite players and one mistake can make it difficult. We had to be ourselves for the foot. If not, it can quickly be 1-0 and 2-0 and then you are on the rear foot. '
