Eddie Howe will MISS Newcastle vs Man Utd clash after being admitted to hospital as club release statement

Eddie Howe will miss the Newcastle match against Manchester United on Sunday after being admitted to the hospital.

The Toon Gaffer missed the press conference on Friday prior to the Premier League match this weekend.

And a statement from the club this afternoon was: “Eddie Howe will miss the Premier League match of Newcastle United against Manchester United on Sunday due to illness.

“The main coach of the Magpies was admitted to hospital late on Friday evening after he felt unwell for a few days.

“Medical staff kept Eddie in the hospital at night for further tests that are going on.

“He is aware and talks to his family and continues to receive expert medical care.

“Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a quick recovery, and further updates will follow in due course.

“Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones will lead the team in St. James' Park on Sunday, supported by the first team staff of the club.”

Howe was absent in the press conference before the competition that confirmed Newcastle was due to illness.

Tindall gave an update about Howe during the speech of the media on Friday morning.

He said: “He has been really bad. Bed-to-bed. We had daily contact, but it has not influenced any of the preparations.

“Have a few more days and hopefully he will come back for the weekend.”

The last game of the magpies saw them on Monday opposite Leicester City in the King Power Stadium, where How did no sign of illness during the game.

They drove to a 3-0 victory on the side of Ruud van Nistelrooy thanks to an early brace by Jacob Murphy and a 34th minute strike by Harvey Barnes.

After the game, Howe said: “Impressive, but also really professional in terms of the way the players took the game.

“We kept our job, we were professional, really good to get a clean slate and three goals. I don't think we were at our best today.

“We certainly need a revival of the performance if we will win the next three.”
