Ederson causes CHAOS after charging out of box & leaving open goal for equaliser

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson was left red-faced after launching an attack and leaving an open goal for Feyenoord to score a crucial equalizer.

Pep Guardiola's side had lost five games in a row in all competitions prior to the Champions League match, and it looked like they were going to change that.

An Ilkay Gundogan goal and Erling Haaland's brace put the hosts in charge at the Etihad Stadium.

However, Feyenoord hit back with three goals in the last fifteen minutes of regular time to ensure that Guardiola's side did not leave with all three points.

City goalkeeper Ederson will feel he played a big role in the Dutch giants taking a point from the match after he raced out of his goal to give them an equaliser.

In the final moments of the match, the Brazilian burst from his goal but mistimed his run, allowing David Hancko to put the ball into an empty net.

It was a curious decision from the City stopper and fans were quick to react on social media.

“What was Ederson doing?” one fan asked as they shared a screenshot of Ederson flying out of his box.

“There's a reason why Ederson is behind Alisson in the Brazilian national team pecking order,” said another supporter.

Dragging another City player into the debate, one user wrote: 'Ederson and Gvardiol have really bottled up a 3-0 lead. That's impressive.”

Speaking about the goal, Stuart Pearce told Amazon Prime: 'The line is so high, no pressure on the ball, they've helped him around the corner, the line isn't straight, he's played onside and all you can see are black shirts nearby. the box.'

'City play an aggressive high line, when you play that ad your players are confident that they know when to come forward and when to stay with the runners.

'If the confidence is damaged a bit, you hold that line and you think 'should I stay or not' and that hesitation costs you a goal.'

Earlier in the match, Haaland took his goal tally for the campaign to 17 goals after scoring a first-half brace against the visitors.

The first came from the penalty spot before later sliding in to convert from close range and double his tally on the night – ahead of City's capitulation.

Gundogan also found the back of the net after a deflected volley found its way past Feyennord's defense and goalkeeper.
