  • The Zizo van Egypt scored in the first half of the stopping time when they defeated Sierra Leone 1-0 on Tuesday to expand their lead at the top of their world cup qualifying group.

    Zizo scored up close when the undefeated side of Hossam Hassan moved to 16 points with their fifth victory in six games in group A, five for Burkina Faso in second place. Sierra Leone is third with eight points.

  • The top team in each of the nine groups deserves a place at the final in the United States, Mexico and Canada, while the four best number two is a heavy inter-continental playoff campaign for another berth.

  • “We are top of the group, unlike the surprises that take place in African football (in other groups). I thank the players,” Hassan said a press conference.

    The home team dominated, with Liverpool's Mohamed Salah missed an early chance, shooting over the bar in the 15th minute after exchanging passes with Omar Marmoush.

    Then the Marmoush of Manchester City had a chance after receiving a Salah rear -wheel pass, but he missed accuracy with his shot.

    Marmoush made a strong run from the left before he found Salah in the box, but his low shot went wide.

    Marmoush then wasted a great opportunity to bring the score to 2-0 when he passed the ball instead of shooting from the box.

    “There are four games, two of which are against direct opponents for the World Cup place. We take the game per game,” added 58-year-old Hassan.

    Egypt will organize Ethiopia before he faced Burkina Faso in September, followed by competitions against Djibouti and Guinee-Bissau in October.
