Ekitike meets new LIV team-mates for first time on pitch in Hong Kong

Hugo Ekitike joined for the first time on Thursday with his new Liverpool teammates after completing his £ 79 million switch to Anfield.

The 23-year-old striker, who signed on Wednesday from Eintracht Frankfurt for a six-year-old deal, suggested to Hong Kong to participate in Liverpool's pre-season tour through the Far East and participated in a series of training sessions.

Given the fast turnaround, it is unlikely that Ekitike will appear against AC Milan on Saturday during the preseason of Liverpool, where Darwin Nunez scored a hat trick during the 5-0 win of the Reds in Stoke before leaving the VK.

The official X account of Liverpool shared images of the Frenchman who walked on the field to meet his new teammates, and embraced manager Arne Slot before he shook hands with Andy Robertson, Conor Bradley and Harvey Elliott.

As he came to the team, Ekitike wore a bright smile on his face and cut an excited figure – make sure he says hello to each of Liverpool's team and staff.

The Liverpool package agreed to Ekitike was £ 69 million basic costs plus £ 10 million in add-ons, which are based on team and player performance.

His arrival takes the summer of Liverpool after no less than £ 290 million, with Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez and Giorgi Mhaldashvili who have already been merged for amounts of £ 116 million, £ 29.5 million, £ 40 million and £ 29 million respectively.

In the meantime, there have also been a handful departure from Anfield this summer, where Trent Alexander-Arnold signed at Real Madrid, Jarell Quansah for Bayer Leverkusen and Caoimhin Kelleher who made the switch to Brentford.

The Reds is also expected to sell a number of stars before the window closes, with people like Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Harvey Elliot all heavily connected to movements gone.

Diaz, who told Liverpool that he wants to leave Anfield for a new challenge this summer, has attracted interest from various top European clubs, including Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

The German giants submitted a transfer offer of £ 58.6 million to sign the Colombian earlier this month, but their approach was immediately rejected by Liverpool that Diaz brought on their tour through the Far East.

In a training exercise only a few moments before the arrival of Ekitike on the field, Reds legend Mohamed Salah clattered in Diaz in an attempt to win back the ball, while he sent his teammate to the floor in a lot before he went on with the session.

Many fans of Liverpool saw the funny side on social media, while she joked that Salah – who has committed his future to Anfield with a new contract last season – gave the Wantaway something to think about.

'Salah has none of the exit conversations, man,' a fan posted on X.

A second added: “Salah who says he is holding him.”

Another fan chimde inside and said, “This is what happens if you want to leave.”

During Liverpool's Mars to the Premier League title last season, Diaz scored 13 times and created another five goals from 36 performances during Slot's debut campaign on MerseSide.

As Mail Sport reported earlier this month, Liverpool attaches great importance to Diaz and appreciated him above £ 100 million fee that Manchester United rejected for their influential captain Bruno Fernandes of Saudi-Arabian side al-Hilal at the beginning of June.

Saudi clubs have been watching Diaz for some time, with Al-Nassr at the head of the queue. They had discussed an offer in the region of € 72 million (£ 62.5 million) prior to the rejected approach to Bayern Munich.
