Newcastle United is interested in Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga and the former Manchester United Ace has spoken about the interest he has subjected to international service
Anthony Elanga admitted that he had received a phone call from Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak … but joked that it was about his wandering shooting at international service. The wing player of Nottingham was associated with the interest of the magpies prior to the match of Sweden against Hungary.
The Sweden got away with 2-0 winners without the help of Newcastle star Isak, who pulled out of the team due to injury, while Elanga applied a main performance but did not succeed in getting on the score sheet. Benjamin Nygren and Yasin Ayari insured the victory for the team of Jon Dahl Tomasson away from home.
Elanga scored six goals and offered 11 assists when Nottingham Forest qualified for the UEFA Conference League, after he was set up for Champions League competition after a strong start of the season. The former Manchester United Ace was an important member of the Nuno Espirito Santo team during 2024/25 in his second season with the club.
Nieuwcastle would have asked for a deal for Elanga, who has three years old about his contract with Forest. Last summer the fifth placed side of the Premier League saw a late £ 35 million bid for the Swede, but never came close to closing a deal.
And Eddie Howe seems to rest the determination of the Midlands side again, with Newcastle able to offer Champions League football. However, it is reported that it would cost a figure more than £ 50 million to find success.
Elanga seems relaxed about such speculation. “There is a lot of talk,” he said, witnessed by sport.
“I concentrate on what I can do and my focus was on the game today. In football there are always rumors. The most important thing is that I concentrate on what I can control.”
“I think there will always be scouts where I also play,” he added. “As long as I stay focused and do my best in the game.
“I just keep my focus and what I can control. That's what I can do on and outside the field. I concentrate on the next day and action. That is what I can do.”
Elanga was asked if he had received a phone call from Isak and admitted that his international teammate had made an attempt. But it was probably about his shooting performance on Friday evening.
“He must have tried to call me about the game that I should have scored,” he said.
