Elanga sparks debate over celebration after scoring sublime goal against Man Utd

Anthony Elanga scored a wonder goal against former Club Manchester United, while fans greeted the “goal of the season” – but the viewers spread over his party.

The Nottingham Forest star, 22, gave his side the lead within five minutes with a shameful solo effort.

While the Midlanders cleaned their lines from a corner, Elanga picked up the ball in his own half.

The Swedish international took his way through three men Utd defenders and continued to go completely to the box of United.

He then poked the ball past Andre Onana – who had taken the P *** forest in their MatchDay program – to lead his team.

Elanga, who showed respect for the club where he was 12 years old, refused to celebrate.

But fans were more than happy to celebrate on his behalf.

One wrote on X: “Elanga just scored the goal of the season against United.”

Another said, “Elanga will be 2012 Messi.”

A third compared him with the leading man of Liverpool and wrote: “Elanga WTF !! That was the standard of Salah.”

However, some supporters were frustrated by the celebration of Elanga, pointing in the way he was treated by United, while in 2023 he was eliminated the Old Trafford exit.

One orphan: “Elanga celebrates the person who earns the most relentless celebration for the way they have treated you.”

But another went against: “Elanga that was a cold celebration.”

However, another summarized: “Fair Play to Elanga. Excellent goal and a very muted celebration. Show his respect and class.”

Many men Utd fans remained frustrated by the treatment of their club of the international winger with 21 caps.

Elanga had shown a lot of promise and forced his way to have the first team, making it 37 Premier League performances in his last two seasons.

Despite a huge potential, Erik ten Hag sold him to the forest for just £ 15 million.

Elanga has become an important gear in the XI of Champions League-Chasing Forest, as well as Sweden, despite their wealth of attacking talent, including Alexander Isak and Dejan Kulusevsky.

The winger now has six goals and eight assists this season, with his new side third in the table and United has passed a miserable campaign, currently 13th.
