Elon Musk is interested in purchasing Premier League leaders Liverpool, according to comments from the billionaire's father Errol Musk.
Elon Musk, the world's richest person known for his ownership of social media platform X, has previously been tipped to buy a Premier League club.
Liverpool's ownership group Fenway Sports Group (FSG), which also owns the MLB franchise the Boston Red Sox and the NHL side the Pittsburgh Penguins, has been open to outside investment for several years.
Reports circulated in late 2022 that FSG wanted to sell Liverpool after becoming unpopular with fans due to several issues, including the club's attempt to join the breakaway European Super League last year.
Although principal owner John W. Henry has since claimed the Anfield club is not for sale, Elon Musk's father has said the Tesla CEO is interested in a takeover bid.
Errol Musk told Times Radio on the Liverpool links: “I can't comment on that, they will increase the price!”
Asked if his son had expressed a desire to buy the club, he added: “Oh yes, but that doesn't mean he's buying the club.
'He would like that, of course. Everyone would want that, including me.
“His grandmother was born in Liverpool, and we have family in Liverpool, and we were fortunate to know quite a few of the Beatles, because they grew up with some of my family. So we are attached to Liverpool.”
