Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery was proud of the performance of his players in their 3-2 second-Leg victory at Paris Saint-Germain, despite losing the quarterfinals of the Champions League with 5-4.
Villa went 2-0 in Villa Park on Tuesday before he merged the lead in racet for 33 minutes and gives their visitors an attack for the rest of the game.
They could not get the most important goal to level the draw, although Ezri Konsa and Ian Maatsen both had too late. Nevertheless, Emery could have some perspective at stake.
“I am very proud of everything,” he said, spoke with Amazon Prime after the game.
“Reaching this level is the next step ahead, I want to try to win with Aston Villa. We played two legs, we competed well and it didn't agree. Today we competed better and we were close to the result.
“I want to try to work for my next process in Aston Villa. The crowd was fantastic, they gave us energy. Even at 2-0. Still doing a little more to get it.
“It is now the most important thing to get Europe again. The most important competition is the Champions League. The challenge we have the last six games is to try to get Europe and the Champions League.
Konsa scored the goal of being in charge of the Villa in the night after good work by Marcus Rashford and had aggregated it late after missing a header.
The International of England shared the pride of his manager, although his disappointment not to reach the line could not be felt during an interview after the game with Amazon Prime.

“Very proud of the boys and what we did tonight. The two goals at the beginning killed us, but we showed a lot of faith and character to get back in. We won the second stage, but it wasn't enough,” he said.
“During the break we thought we had nothing to lose. We wanted to go outside and prove a point. We had opportunities, I think I scored the most difficult. I don't think we could have done it even more. I missed the ball [for a header]It happens.
“He [Gianluigi Donnarumma] Made a number of excellent rescues. Tonight we showed that we can compete at the highest level and we want to do it again next season. “
Likewise, Aston Villa captain John McGinn was open about his disappointment, but agreed with Konsa and Emery about how well they had done in the draw.
“Clear disappointment, but I am proud of my teammates, proud of the club,” he said TNT Sports.
“We have taken a long way. We were so close tonight. We just fell a bit short. We had opportunities to bring the game to extra time, but we have to be proud of the way we come back against one of the best teams in the world to fight until the end.
“We want more. We want to be back here next season and we will do our best to do that.”
