It only took three minutes from the Thomas Tuchel era to show drawing of a new mindset, a changed perspective – and a new era starts.
Phil Foden took the ball in half of Albania, played a backward pass and the new manager of England turned his back on his couch.
The possession was maintained, but an opportunity to penetrate was wasted. That may be accepted in the old regime, it will not be in this.
It may have summarized the game – and even the current situation of England. This team still has problems, some old habits to extend and the slow feeling of Wembley – silent everywhere and with huge empty spaces at full -time – it turned out that there is more to the German to do to bring the more extensive England that he seems to have promised.
But in addition to that FODENMOTS, Tuchel and the 'Win Now Mentality' are currently surrounded by his job in England is what this team needs.
“We had clear ideas about what we wanted to do and how we wanted to play,” said Jude Bellingham full -time, in what was perhaps a targeted comment on the previous Gareth Southgate regime. England appeared, that was not always the case – even in games like this – under the last permanent manager.
The first evidence of this came in the press. England saw a lot more aggressively from the Bal-Hun first chance of the game, half a chance for Kane in the box, came from counter-squat immediately after losing the ball.
Tuchel was a quiet figure for the most half of the first half – especially in the first 15 minutes that could not get to work – but he was hectic in applause every time Albania pressed in mistakes.
It is one of the most important principles of the philosophy of the German. With Declan Rice, Curtis Jones, Kyle Walker and Bellingham, the game all started with that sharp, urgent attitude, it was a great positive one.
And it helped the dominance of England, which fits the most fits in a first half since the data records started. The three lions had 88 percent in front of Albania's first chance of the game.
That opportunity – a lus cross on Jordan Pickford's Dwarsbalk – already rose 1-0 with England, their open came through the new hero Myles Lewis -S -SKILY. This was a teenager who played England under the 19-year football in October and Arsenal Under-23s Action last September. Now a complete international hero.
“He is fearless,” said his teammate of Arsenal Declan Rice after the game. For example, the manager was to spot him, promote him two age groups to the seniors, to choose him for the Wembley lights and to get his reward.
“He was great in the camp. Full of confidence, full of humor – such an open character,” said Tuchel of the new teenager of England. “He was decisive and opened the game for us.”
The good eye of Tuchel was also clearly in another debutant than Burn. The manager of England admitted last week that he was surprised that Burn had not been called much earlier in his career, his words supported by a solid display of the Newcastle man – effectively in both boxes, and denied a Wembley Magic moment of the crossbar in the first half.
Tuchel says he wants to learn more about his team in England, but he already has a good idea. The selection of Ezri Konsa about Marc Guehi was justified by a last packle to deny Albania an equalizer of the second half. Curtis Jones did not look out of place.
The only drawback of England's game was the output wide. Foden waiting for a goals from England extended to 17 games and while Marcus Rashford looked sharp, if the Aston Villa does not score or create – what else does he bring?
The return of Bukayo Saka cannot come fast enough in that respect, with the hip injury of Anthony Gordon a blow for the reserve options.
“Both wing players were not as impactful as normal they can be because they are normally in club football,” said Tuchel.
“We missed a little runs of the ball, not passing enough and dribbling. Don't drive enough with the ball. Not aggressively enough in the direction of goal.
“Individually we can have more impact of the wing players.” It showed a small sense of ruthlessness of Tuchel to call two people after game one. Maybe this is the England that we have to see.
This is just one game, some will claim that it is only Albania. But this already felt like Tuchel's team.
“Welcome to the home of football” read the banner to Tuchel while he first came out of the Wembley tunnel.
Tuchel has shown sufficient signs of improvement, even after one match, to make himself feel at home – the next question is whether he can bring football there.
