English source provides update on Real Madrid’s pursuit of TAA

Trent Alexander-Arnold's future could be decided in the coming weeks. The 26-year-old is out of contract with Liverpool at the end of the season, and as he has not committed to an extension, his situation is very unclear.

It has been reported in recent days that Real Madrid are very close to an agreement for Alexander-Arnold, although David Ornstein of The Athletic has stated that this is not currently the case (via Rousing The Kop).

“My information is that nothing has been decided yet, all options remain open and that is largely because his camp has not yet been able to conduct formal negotiations (with Real Madrid). That is only possible on January 1, but that is very soon.

“When that day comes, they will be able to speak freely with clubs outside England and sign a pre-contract agreement. We don't know if Real Madrid will make an offer to sign him permanently. What we do know is that Real Madrid want to sign him; they are very excited about it. It presents him with a huge decision to make.”

It remains to be seen how the situation will develop, but if Real Madrid can get their man it would be a fantastic deal.
