In recent weeks have seen a lot of speculation about the situation of Marc-Andre ter Stegen in Barcelona. Club officials have been left furiously with the actions of the 33-year-old, and as such the decision was made this week to open the disciplinary procedure against him, whatever has led to at least losing his position as a captain.
Barcelona -head coach Hansi Flick made it clear to Ter Stegen that he is not in his plans for the coming season, and at the back the German international made the decision to undergo surgery with a recurring problem. When making his decision, he announced that he is out for three months, which is contrary to the vision of the Catalans that he would be at least four side lines – which would mean that his salary could be used to register Joan Garcia as his replacement.
Therefore, and the fact that Ter Stegen refused to sign on the medical report drawn up by Barcelona, the tensions have grown, which led to these disciplinary procedures. But now the man himself has broken his silence and issued a statement on social media.
“In recent months have been particularly difficult for me, both physical and personal. Like every player, after having sustained an injury, my only priority has always been to return to the field as quickly as possible, only motivated by the desire to help and do what I love most: competing.
“In the past few weeks, many things have been said about me – some of them completely unfounded. That is why I think it is necessary to express my version of events respectfully, but clearly.
“The decision to undergo surgery was taken after consultation with medical professionals and fully approved by the club, and always with the intention of prioritizing my health and long -term sports career, which of course is fully in accordance with that of FCB to retain myself as quickly as possible, club.
“I would also like to clarify – in the light of certain speculation – that all signing sessions and contract extensions of the club were completed before my operation, and that is why I could not consider that my unfortunate circumstances with the new operation that I had to undergo are needed for the registration of other colleagues that I respect and watch out to share many seasons.
“During my career I have always tried to behave myself with professionalism, respect and dedication to the badges that I have represented. I have a deep affection for FC Barcelona, this city and the supporters, who have stood me for so many years. My dedication to these colors remains absolutely.
“I understand that difficult moments can generate tension, but I trust that we can resolve this situation constructively through dialogue and responsibility. I am fully willing to work with the management of the club to resolve this issue and offer the requested authorization.
“Much has changed, but one thing will never do it; I love your culers.”
