Enzo Maresca has demanded Chelsea fans to stop expecting 'PlayStation' football after their victory against Leicester.
The blues pressed just about the wrestling side of Ruud van Nistelrooy on Sunday. They struggled to break down the foxes, with the second half of Marc Cucurella that secured three points.
Despite the victory, there were murmur of dissatisfaction of the Stamford Bridge Trouw about the playing style of Chelsea. But Maresca has hit back by suggesting that the collision would always be difficult, but was proud of his side to cross the line.
In his press conference after the game, the Italian said: “This guy [points to a Leicester journalist] Was with me in Leicester last season, it happened exactly the same. People must understand that this is our way, our style and this is the way we are going to play. When a team creates the amount of opportunities that we have created today, you must be happy. It's not easy.
“Leicester, up to minute 83, they were 0-0 against Arsenal; the same happened against City. If you think football is just a playstation and you win easily, not – every match is difficult. The way the players did today is fantastic.
“We need our fans. On my Instagram I said two days ago, our Champions League will be goal with our fans who support us and especially when you play at home. We need them behind the players with the Spirit they have shown today.”
Chelsea is now fourth in the table with a two -point advantage compared to Manchester City on the way to the last ten games of the season. Their next league match will place them against London Rivals Arsenal in the Emirates Stadium next weekend.
For this they are confronted with a decisive confrontation with the Danish side Copenhagen in the Europa Conference League. Chelsea has a 2-1 advantage on his way to the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Thursday.
And Maresca has suggested that home support must play a major role. He added: “Absolutely. And it's such a nice feeling when we can feel the fans behind them.
“It is something that the players mention after the game:” Did you hear how good the fans were? “They mention between them. It is so good. We need the fans. We need the fans. We need the fans.”
If Chelsea claim, they will accept De Mole or Legia Warsaw in the next round of the competition.
