When does the Premier League season start of 2025/26?
The Premier League season 2025/26 starts on the weekend of 16/17 August 2025.
In earlier campaigns, the opening match took place on the Friday of the opening weekend, but the last schedule and the choices for television broadcast are revealed on Wednesday morning.
That starting date is 83 days after the end of the 2024/25 season, the Premier League of which says the “maximum player rest time”.
The 2025/26 season consists of 33 weekends and five midweek -race rounds.
The Premier League says that the schedule “continues to allow more rest time for players during the festive round of competition”.
No two rounds will take place within 60 hours in succession and there will be no luminaires on Christmas Eve.
When does the Premier League season end?
The last Premier League race round will be played on Sunday 24 May 2026.
As usual, all competitions start at the same time, with the Premier League season that is closed for just over fourteen days before the World Cup 2026 starts.
Which new teams are in the Premier League 2025/26?
Leeds United and Burnley automatically achieved promotion of the championship last season, with Sunderland joined them after the victory over Sheffield United the play-off final of the championship to complete the new line-up of 20 teams.
That trio will replace Southampton, Leicester City and Ipswich Town, all of whom have been relegated from the Premier League in 2024/25.
When does the World Cup 2026 start?
The World Cup 2026 – which takes place in the US, Canada and Mexico – starts on Thursday, June 11, 2026 in Mexico City.
The final will be held in New Jersey on Sunday, July 19.
