Eric Dier is closing in on a surprise move to a European club – despite entering talks over staying at Bayern Munich

Eric Dier is talking about a move to Monaco.

The 31-year-old was without a contract in Bayern Munich this summer and had discussed an extension, but Monaco is deemed to be willing to offer a longer deal.

The former center of Tottenham and England was interested in Monaco prior to his move to the Bundesliga.

Monaco offers a deal with an option for another year until 2027.

Dier has made 25 performances this season and scored in Bayern's Champions League exit to Inter Milan. He scored again in the 3-0 win of last weekend at Mainz.

After putting on the white shirt of Tottenham for 10 years, Dier made the switch to Bavaria in January 2024.

The English defender has been an important player for Vincent Kompany in recent weeks and started all the last eight games of Bayern.

Since its arrival, Dier has made 45 performances in all competitions for the German giants, with 25 of those this season.
