ETH ‘on shortlist to succeed Xabi Alonso’ as Leverkusen boss ‘set to join Real’

Former man United -boss Erik ten Hag is reportedly admitted to a shortlist of candidates to succeed Xabi Alonso as head coach of Bayer Leverkusen.

Alonso confirmed last week that he will leave the German side at the end of the season after almost two and a half years in the role.

The former midfielder of Real Madrid is expected to join the Spanish giants in the summer, leaving Carlo Ancelotti Los Blancos later this month to become Brazil boss.

Leverkusen reportedly started their search for Alonso's successor, with ten HAG under the names that are considered according to athletics.

Ten Hag has been unemployed since he was fired as a man United Boss in October.

The Dutchman was fired with the Red Devils who were 14th in the Premier League after winning only four of their opening 14 games.

His departure came despite the fact that the club caused a contract extension of a year last summer.

The extension of ten hag followed him who led the club to the FA Cup, after he also won the Carabao Cup in his first full season that was in charge.

The 55-year-old is said to be a member of a club in the Bundesliga or the Premier League.
