Europa League draw: Who could Man United and Tottenham face in the last 16 after the conclusion of the play-offs?

Manchester United and Tottenham have learned their possible Europa League Last-16 opponents prior to Friday's draw.

The knockout play-off round was closed on Thursday, with the winners of the eight tires that joined those who finished in the top eight of the competition phase.

United, Spurs and the other 14 teams that will remain in the second competition of Europe will discover with whom they will be confronted when UEFA performs the draw at their head office in Nyon.

The Premier League parties are placed in opposite halves of the bracket as a result of the paired together after United has finished the competition phase in third place, a place for Spurs.

It also meant that they could be pulled against the same four opponents in the round of 16: AZ Alkmaar, Galatasaray, Real Sociedad and Midtjylland.

And after the conclusion of the play-offs, United and Spurs know that they are confronted with AZ Alkmaar or Real Sociedad.

Dutch Side AZ Alkmaar conquered Galatasaray in their two -legged draw, while Real Sociedad walked past the Danish club Midtjylland.

A 4-1 victory in the first stage in the Netherlands sealed the site of AZ in the last 16 effectively, which they sealed in a total of 6-3, while LaLala-Outfit Real Sociedad Midtjylland defeated 7-3 over the two legs.

Rangers meanwhile compete against Fenerbahce of Bodo/Glimt.

United played Real Sociedad for the last time in the group stage of the Europa League 2022-2023, lost 1-0 at home and won 1-0 in Spain.

Their most recent collisions with AZ Alkmaar entered the Euroopa League group phase 2019-2020, with a 0-0 draw in the Netherlands followed by a 4-0 United victory in Old Trafford.

Spurs defeated Alkmaar 1-0 at home in the competition phase of this year's competition. They have never confronted with Real Sociedad in a competitive fixture.

The first stage of the round of 16 will take place on March 6 with the return a week later. Both United and Spurs are at home in the second stage.

Teams are now able to plot their potential route to the final, because they can only play parties on their side of the bracket before the showpiece collision in Bilbao on 21 May.

In contrast to earlier iterations of UEFA competitions, teams are no longer pulled against each other in the knockout phases. Instead, they are placed in one of the two possible places in the bracket, which are determined in advance based on their placement in the competition phase.
