European giant drop interest in Barcelona star Dani Olmo amid registration crisis

Barcelona are facing an unprecedented situation having failed to register Dani Olmo before the La Liga deadline in January, with their star signing able to terminate his contract just five months after arriving. The Catalan midfielder naturally attracts a lot of attention from the European elite.

One of the sides pursuing him this summer was German giants Bayern Munich, who were interested in a deal before Olmo opted to move to Barcelona. However, BILD (via Sport) reports that the Bavarian side will not pursue Olmo despite potentially being able to sign him for free. But due to the fact that Olmo is said to be planning to return to Barcelona in the summer if he wants to leave the club in January, and the fact that they cannot sign him on a long-term contract, they have dropped their interest.

It is widely reported that Olmo could collect the full amount of his six-year contract, which amounts to €48 million, if he decides to use an exit clause that comes into play if he is not registered. AC Milan have reportedly offered to give him a home for six months, and with Olmo planning to stay at the club, that could be a more likely destination.
