There were Europe League and UEFA Conference League competitions that took place throughout Europe on Thursday, with real Sociedad and real betis involved in the La Liga parties. La Real traveled to Denmark to counter against FC Midtjylland in the first stage of their play-off Round equal game, while Los Verdiblancos took on KAA Gent in Belgium.
FC Midtjylland 1-2 Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad is doing their bit so far to help La Liga secure an extra Champions League place for next season, from which they could benefit. The side of Imanol Alguacil is in pole position to reach the last 16 of the Europa League after a scary victory in Denmark.
Brais Mendez was the most important thing for La Real, while he scored the opener from the penalty spot after he himself was polluted in the area before he saved Takefusa Kubo for a wonderful second. Adam Buksa received a goal back for the hosts, but for next week's return bone in the Reale Arena, it is the Basque side that has control.
KAA Gent 0-3 real betis
Real Betis is even more comfortable in their play-off Round tie from the UEFA Conference League, after they have scored three unanswered goals in Belgium. It was aimless on the half -time interval, but the side of Manuel Pellegrini benefited in the second period.
The opener came from Antony, who could be kept for next season if an agreement with Manchester United could be reached in the summer. The Brazilian winger made the goals in back-to-back competitions with a curling effort in the bottom corner. 20 minutes from full -time, Cedric Bakambu added a second for Betis after he was played by Isco Alarcon, before Sergi Altimara completed the score two minutes after the couch came off.
