Everton 0-0 Brentford : Christian Norgaard’s first-half red card not enough to
Everton were booed by their own fans after they were rightly held to a 0-0 draw by Brentford, who played more than half of the match with ten players.
The Toffees had 24 shots against the Bees, who had lost all five of their away games in the league earlier this season, but only five on target and only tested Mark Flek through Dominic Calvert-Lewin's fifth minute goal.
The visitors' best chance of the match came when Mathias Jensen played through Yoane Wissa before half-time, with a sprawling Jordan Pickford denying him the opener.
That came just before Christian Norgaard's red card, which was only awarded after referee Chris Kavanagh was warned by the Brentford captain on Pickford for a high foot as he slid in for a shot.
Kavanagh took just seconds to consult the VAR review monitor before sending off the Denmark international, who had previously never seen red for the Bees.
Everton failed to capitalize on their numerical superiority and toiled on after the break without forcing Flokken into another remarkable save.
Vitaliy Mykolenko converted a fine opportunity after the dismissal of Ilman Ndiaye in a rare chance of note, and even the introduction of Beto to partner Calvert-Lewin made little difference.
At the end of the Toffees' third successive game without scoring, the Goodison Park faithful made their feelings known to Sean Dyche and his side, who have won just two of their 12 games this season.
