  • Trossard (34 ')

Match report

Perhaps with one eye on the first stage of their Champions League quarter final draw against Real Madrid on Tuesday, Arsenal started without Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, but the rotated visitors controlled the first half.

Leandro Trossard played as a central striker of Arsenal and gave the visitors to Mikel Arteta a deserved lead in the 34th minute.

After Raheem Sterling used on the quirky header of Idrissa Gueye and ran on the field, Trossard received his pass, the ball shifted on his left foot and drilled home.

Trossard came close to adding a second goal just before half -time, and Everton was chased away by their supporters after they had not laid a glove on Arsenal.

However, the game has a mistake by Myles Lewis Skelly on only 47 seconds after the restart. After he was beaten by the jump of the ball, he put his arms around Jack Harrison and then fell on the calf of his opponent in the Arsenal area.

Ndiaye sent David Raya in the wrong way from 12 meters, and Everton improved it, despite the fact that Arteta introduced his major attackers from the bank.

Martinelli drew a full-stretch save from Jordan Pickford and Mikel Merino sent a header wide, but none of the teams assembled a persistent push for a winner.

Arsenal is now 11 points behind runners Liverpool, who visit Fulham on Sunday and need a maximum of 11 more points to win the title.

Everton goes above Tottenham to go 14th on 35 points.

Data debrief: game of two halves

Everton was desperately poor in the first half, did not succeed in taking a single shot on goal and pulling hunters from their own fans on the whistle.

Arsenal seemed like their honor, revived in the attack with Trossard that led the line-the Belgian also delivered last season in this exact fixture and became the first Gunners player to score in Goodison Park in back-to-back campaigns since Alexis Sanchez in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

His last five goals for Arsenal had all proven to be the winner, but that would not be the case here, because Ndiaye benefited from the mistake of Lewis-Skelly.

Ndiaye has now scored four goals in his last five Premier League Start, more than he succeeded in his first 18 in the competition (three).

After the break, Arsenal had 77.7% of the possession, but could only set the two shots of Everton on goal as their performance – just like their title charging.
