Everton ‘answered questions’ with dominant win, says Dyche

Sean Dyche believes Everton “answered questions” with their dominant 4-0 win against Wolves at Goodison Park.

It was the biggest home win for the home side since April 2019 as they produced an energetic performance to beat fellow strugglers Wolves, with all four goals coming from set-pieces.

Ashley Young opened the scoring with his 50th Premier League goal before Orel Mangala added a second before half-time. A night to forget for Craig Dawson, with the Wolves defender conceding two own goals in the second half.

It was a comprehensive win for Everton, who moved five points clear of the relegation zone, leaving Dyche pleased with his side's trajectory.

“There were a lot of question marks about what we are trying to achieve here and we had to answer them. I think the players did that,” he told BBC 5 Live Sport.

“It was a good performance, a committed performance. I said to the group during the week: 'I couldn't be more proud of these players.'

“They've been through everything and kept going.”

The hosts also beat Wolves for expected goals (xG), finishing with a total of 1.02 compared to the visitors' 0.79.

They have kept a clean sheet in five of their fourteen Premier League games this season. Only Liverpool (seven) and Manchester United (six) did that more often in the competition this season.
