A destroyed Ndiaye hurled off the field and then burst into tears and hid his face in his shirt.

Teammates Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure, as well as Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk, hurried to comfort him.

Ndiaye was also welcomed by Everton fans as he dived the tunnel.

The Senegalese bait was eventually replaced by Jack Harrison 25 minutes in the Merseyside Derby with the score 1-1.

There was concern about Ndiaye from the TNT Sports Commentary Box, in which Ally McCoist said: “I think Dominik Szoboszlai Ndiaye may have captured and that is what made him out of balance.

“He kicks the floor. He looks like he might just have adjusted his knee.”
