‘Everybody wants to play for MU’ – Amorim confident he can still get top targets

Ruben Amorim insists that “everyone wants to play for Manchester United”, with the head coach Adamant the bad season of the club will not prevent them from landing their transfer goals.

The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League, who have sustained their most defeats in one campaign in the competition (15).

In the meantime, only Everton (14) and degraded Leicester City (15) have no score in more competition matches than United this term (13).

Nevertheless, Amorim's side can still be eligible for next season's Champions League by winning the Europa League, in which they are attracted to play athletic Bilbao in the semi -final.

But even if they are unable to secure European football before 2025-26, the head coach is convinced that top players would still be the chance to sign at Old Trafford.

“It's Manchester United,” said Amorim. “What I feel is that there are many players who want to play for our club.

“I know that if you watch our club at the moment – with all the problems with the staff, people who go, coach, the results change – it seems a bit of a problem. But we have a clear idea.

“That is the easiest part to explain to a player. And then it is Manchester United. Everyone wants to play for Manchester United.”

Amorim has a “idea” of players he wants to bring in and continue during what is expected to be a busy transfer window at Old Trafford.

However, he insists that there is still time for him to be won by his current team.

“I think Casemiro is the best example,” he said. “He was a player who didn't play. And then you see the latest games, he plays a role and he plays pretty well and he always plays.

“So I am not that kind of coach who does not change. I like to change thoughts. If they change thoughts, I am really happy with that. I just want to win and place the best players in our team.”

The Portuguese also spoke to speculation that United linked with a movement for wolves Vooruit Matheus Cunha.

“I will say nothing about Matheus, because if I say once, I will have to say for every situation that is yes or no,” the head coach added.

“So I will not comment on that. We are focused on this season. Even the way we will prepare for the following season can change in these competitions. So it is difficult to predict what will happen in the future.”
