Ange Postecoglou believes that there is a negative agenda around Tottenham, which suggests that even Europa League -glory will not be good enough for the club's critics.
Spurs, who are 14th in the Premier League table and eight points of the top 10, are preparing for a seasonal quarter-final confrontation with former winners Eintracht Frankfurt.
Postecoglou came under intense criticism this season, with reports that suggest that his future can depend on Europa League success.
This would save something from the Tottenham campaign, because it would represent their first silverware since the EFL Cup 2007-08, while it also secured continental football for the next term.
The side of Postecoglou warmed up for the first stage on Thursday with a 3-1 win over Southampton last weekend, although he was questioned about Brennan Johnson who was denied a hat trick.
The International in Wales had scored twice in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where the hosts were given a penalty in the stopping time, but Mathys Tel finally stepped up and scored instead.
And Postecoglou says that the situation embodies the current consensus around Tottenham, of which he thinks positives are constantly changing into negatives.

“I just think that we are now in that position, where even the good things we do are changed to a glass half-leather rhetoric,” he told reporters during his press conference before the competition.
“We have scored, we have won. It is incredible, literally gold in c *** changes when it is Tottenham. If we are 2-1 up and we get a penalty, I want our best penalty contractor to take it.
“One little one against this club is that it was not a winner. The mentality of the winners is to score in the last minute. We scored and somehow everything Tottenham does is negative.
'I just think you can't win the argument of convincing people. Even when we win [the Europa League]I'm gone anyway. That is just the general sentiment of the people. “
Tottenham appears for the first time in the last eight of a European competition since he reached the Champions League final six years ago.
Although the fans of Spurs have not encouraged much lately, Postecoglou has encouraged them to find out behind the team, in the conviction that it will be crucial for their chances of success.
“It is extremely important,” the head coach added. “With every European game, the atmosphere has a big impact.
“It is a large part of European football. Many teams that are successful in Europe are at the back of a really strong home atmosphere. We hope it is the same for us [on Thursday]. “
