Mohamed Salah is the favorite to win PFA player of the year thanks to a stunning campaign with Premier League leaders Liverpool, but the leader Bruno Fernandes of Manchester United is tipped to cause a big upset
Bacary Sagna has made the remarkable statement that Bruno Fernandes Mohamed Salah could pipper to this year's PFA Player of the Year price -despite the fact that the Liverpool -star -has more goals and assists for the Premier League leaders than the team 13e in the Table of Table.
Salah is the overwhelming favorite to become a crowned player of the season and could eventually still win the Ballon d'Or from 2025, even though the Reds from the Champions League are beaten. He has 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions, including 27 and 17 in the competition.
For comparison with Fernandes, which has been strongly criticized by some experts, including Roy Keane, 16 goals and nine assists have contributed – although he was undoubtedly the best player of United during a nightmazing campaign.
And former Arsenal and Manchester City Full Back Sagna, who spoke with Paddy Power, thinks that the Portugal International should be considered besides Salah because of how he was upset against Old Trafford against Old Trafford.
“Bruno Fernandes has the chance to win the PFA player of the season – he was great. He had a lot of stick if things didn't go well for him, but I have to give him some credit because he was really picked up.
“Perhaps he needed more time to adjust, but he has found his place. He is the captain for a reason, because he has a great personality and elevates the team. We knew of his quality in Portugal, and people expected him to come up when he came to Manchester United – he finally answers those questions.
“I am happy for him personally, but it is also great for the team – Manchester United is under pressure and it is a time when they need players to perform.
“People expect you to shine as soon as you wear the shirt, and it is a heavy shirt to wear. He plays for United, not for another team, so the fans are very demanding. I am happy that he has his quality delivered and showed.”
The performances of Fernandes were criticized by Keane, where the former United Skipper says that the sitting bracelet carrier does not show “leadership in action” and “he is not a hunter”. Similarly, other former players have praised him for his versions with Gary Pallister who recently suggests that he is getting frustrated and earns more praise.
