Ex-Chelsea GK comically scores ‘best OG you’ll see’ after ‘slapping it top bins’

A FORMER Chelsea goalkeeper has scored one of the 'best own goals' leaving commentators stunned.

Walton & Hersham played out a thrilling 4-4 draw against Gloucester City in the Non League Premier on Saturday.

The two clubs are battling it out at the top of the league, but it was a blunder from the Gloucester goalkeeper that caught the eye.

Just four minutes into the match, former Chelsea player Jared Thompson attempted to pass the ball to the right back.

However, he got his pass completely wrong when he shot the ball through the post of his own goal from an almost impossible angle.

The commentators were stunned to hear them shout, “Oh my word.”

Footage of the goal went viral on social media as many fans were surprised by the mistake.

One wrote: “That's the best own goal you'll ever see.”

A second wrote: “Bro hit it in the top bins.”

A third commented: “Perfect precision with no angle.”

A fourth said: “Unbelievable! That is pure comedy gold.”

A fifth joked: “I blame Pep [Guardiola]. Wouldn't have happened 10/15 years ago.”

Another said: “Damn. He really didn't need to go into the top corner. Suarez would be proud.”

The own goal gave Walton & Hersham a 4-0 lead before half-time.

However, Gloucester managed to level after a brilliant comeback.

Jayden Crosbie scored the equalizer in the 92nd minute to keep a six-point lead over his opponents.

During his time with the Blues, Thompson made 12 appearances for the under-18s side, keeping five clean sheets.

He also won the English Youth League with the club.
