AFC Wimbledon -defender Sam Hutchinson has revealed that he only had a heart attack in a crucial League Two match for six minutes -and then scored.
Earlier this month, the 35-year-old passed the frightening test against Grimbsy Town.
Only moments in the game, without the knowledge of him, Hutchinson had a heart attack while he was on the field.
Because he did not know what was happening, the defender played and completed the full game.
He even scored the decisive goal in the 52nd minute when Wimbledon won a 1-0 victory to achieve a place in the League Two Play-Offs.
But it was only after full -time that he realized that something was seriously wrong.
Reminding the test while this week he spoke with Wimbledon Club Media, he explained: “It is really crazy. Of course I experienced a lot of pain.
“I also look back and my lady said,” Oh, you didn't look carefully when you had the interview, “and then I came back to the coach, started to get more pain in the chest, worn out the adrenaline and we finally made a pit stop in Nottingham.”
He continued: “Bob [Bacic, head physio] took me up and actually said I had a heart attack.
“Then they said it could be an infection, so I was in it for five days.
“I was like a pin code at the end of it, I got a lot of tests.
“And then it turned out, yes, I actually had a heart attack.
“A branch of an artery was blocked, 75 percent, so I had an angiogram and they put a stent in it. I had that in London and saw a top specialist who was incredible.
“And I'm on my way to recovery now.”
Hutchinson also admitted that he “broke” after being told that he had suffered a heart attack because he didn't want his football career to end.
But the specialist he saw insisted that there is “no problem” that he continues to play.
AFC Wimbledon has Monday opposite Walsall in the League Two Play-Off final.
And although he “destroyed” is that he will miss the opportunity, Hutchinson looks forward to looking.
He added: “I am there to support the crossed boys and fingers, we can get it over the line and do what everyone wants us to do.
“I really think I could play, it would of course be dangerous, but that is just my opinion. I will never do that, but I like that.”
Hutchinson joined Chelsea at the age of nine and graduated from the club's academy to make the first team.
However, he was limited to only six senior performances in total.
The defender was lent on Wednesday to Nottingham Forest, Vitesse and Sheffield before completing a permanent move to Hillsborough.
He then played for Pafos and read before he came to AFC Wimbledon in December.
