The 32 teams for the 2025 Club World Cup have been confirmed
All the important details about the FIFA Club World Cup 2025…
City are currently world champions after beating Urawa Red Diamonds and Fluminense in Saudi Arabia in December.
However, in 2025, the tournament will expand from just the winners of each continent's major club competitions to a month-long football festival with 32 teams.
City's success in the 2022/23 Champions League not only earned us our place in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup, it also saw us as one of the UEFA representatives for this new edition.
Below we explain everything that is currently known about the new competition, with this page being updated as it approaches…
Format explained
The format will follow the model of the recent FIFA World Cup for International Teams, with 32 teams divided into eight groups of four.
The top two teams in each group advance to a round of 16, where knockout matches are played in one match until the final.
If the knockout matches end in a draw, extra time and penalties will be used to decide who will progress to the next stage.
There will be no play-off for third place.
