Ex-PL star jailed for fraud after persuading friend to invest in record label

A former Premier League defender was imprisoned for fraud after he has sustained his friend from more than £ 120,000.

Lucien Aubey, 40, received a two -year prison sentence, suspended by a court in the French city of Toulouse.

He previously made three Premier League performances for Portsmouth in the 2007-08 season, when the club won the FA Cup under Harry Redknapp.

In addition to winning five caps for Congo, he also played for Toulouse, Rennes and Reims alongside clubs in Turkey and Cyprus.

Aubey and his co-fertilized Mohamed Dia, a clothing designer, would have mentioned the man, only as Sebastien, 42, that he would earn £ 1 million in three years.

But he has now been found guilty of fraud after he has had a friend invest in making a record label.

The person had also landed a payment of £ 170,000 earlier after a traffic accident.

Aubey was previously declared bankrupt and disqualified to set up a company, while shoe repair -sebastien went to the police but never saw his investment again.

He accused Aubey of harming his children after looking for reimbursement.

Sebastien, 42, said: 'I lost everything and my wife wanted to commit suicide. I had to give up work.

'We broke up, and those two [Aubey and Dia] I just laughed at it. '

Aubey said to the court: 'My money was tied in Cyprus, held by my club Olympiakos Nicosia. This was not a fraud – I never robbed anyone. '

But public prosecutors were able to reveal telephone conversations between the former footballer and DIA, who demonstrated an intention to cheat Sebastien.

On Monday, the Aubey court ordered to pay € 145,000 back and not to make contact with his victim, while DIA received a conditional prison sentence of a year for his actions.
