Ex-RFEF President convicted of sexual assault following kiss without consent

Former RFEF President Luis Rubiales was convicted of sexual attack after the court ruled that he had kissed Jenni Hermoso without her permission during the celebration of the Triumph World Cup in Spain. A decision was made less than a week after entering deliberation.

The Public Prosecution Service had requested a 2.5 -year prison sentence for Rubiales, for sexual violence and coercion, of which 1.5 years before the last part of the sentence was. Former RFEF marketing director Ruben Rivera, former Spain manager Jorge Vilda and former sports director Albert Luque were also accused of coercion, but all four have been liberated from those charges.

The punishment for Rubiales shoots far from that requested by the prosecution, whereby Rubiales is sentenced to a fine of 18 months with a rate of € 20 per day. The total reimbursement that Rubiales will be forced to pay is € 10.8K in the course of that period. He will also have a street ban on him, which means that he will not come from Hermoso for the following year within 200m, as reported by Marca.

It is not the only legal problems in which Rubiales is located, because he is currently part of two further investigations. One of those centers around alleged corruption for financial maneuvers during his time as president of the RFEF, and another fraud for suspected fraud, because of the way in which the contract between the RFEF and Saudi -Arabia is organized for the Spanish Supercup in the Middle East , he was mediated by Gerard Pique's company Kosmos.
