Ex-UFC fighter slams the promotion for not re-signing ranked contender on a 7-1 run… ‘It bothers me’

The UFC continues to come under fire to let go of one of the few heavyweights in the form.

The leading promotion of mixed martial arts is no stranger to making surprising decisions about the schedule. Last year, unbeaten flightweight Competier Muhammad Mokaev was sent by Dana White and Co.

The last to be the victim of such a decision was Martin Buday, who left the UFC as the number 12-arranged competition in his division, only a few days away from a victory that left him 7-1 within the octagon.

A number of fans and analysts have questioned the call given the shortage of worthy heavyweight contenders at the moment, and a former hunter is now added to them.

Josh Thomson critical of UFC for not signing heavyweight Martin Buday

Buday defeated Marcus Almeida on UFC Abu Dhabi on July 26, in which he spoiled the debut of the decorated Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend after he had signed in one championship after a stint. The fight was largely boring and left some dissatisfied fans behind that White to scrap the heavyweight division.

But they did not expect that the promotion would choose instead against re -signing the Victor, which marks one of the few heavyweights that gained a strong series of victories during his climb on the ladder.

One of the criticism of the decision is ex-PUC participant Josh Thomson, who told his former employers that they cannot claim that they have the best hunters in the world while they 'push away'.

“Let's not pretend that there are a lot of large heavyweights,” Thomson said on his ways in podcast.

“What makes me upset, however, to stop saying that you have the best hunters in the world if you push away some of the best hunters. This man is 7-1 in a weak heavyweight division where you need the best hunters.

“Let him fight against the boys in the top seven, top eight,” Thomson continued. “If he wins, he will win. Maybe you will get a great achievement from him who makes him something he would never have been.

“Let's see what happens. Let's see if he rises the opportunity … You can sometimes find that little diamond in the rough by having them fight against someone who will take it out.

“It bothers me when they cut boys who are good, who hit UFC hunters, and they still let them go.”

Martin Buday has issued a statement about his shock UFC -Exit

Shortly after reports of the controversial decision had arisen, Buday issued a statement that confirmed his UFC exit on social media.

The Slovak heavyweight gave a positive twist to the position in which he finds himself, but did not discuss what could be in MMA for him.

“Yes, it's true,” wrote Buday on X.

“Yesterday we received a phone call that @UFC will not resign us for the time being.

“Well, it's what it is, at least I'm leaving my head up. Thanks.”

Some soon suggested that Buday could follow in the footsteps of other UFC hunters released by becoming a member of the PFL. Another heavyweight did exactly this year, with Alexandr Romanov who made a winning start of the life of the Octagon.
