Two losses for the current UFC Middleweight Champion Dric Du Plessis did not stop a former hunter of placing Sean Strickland at the top of the pile.
Strickland will keep a close eye on UFC 319 on August 16, because the next fight for the title he once had, takes place in the main event.
Du Plessis will be confronted with Khamzat Chimaev's challenge, because the South African is the newest who is still trying to strengthen the perfect record of 'Borz'-and the Chetsjenseneen hopes to be the first to leave 'still buttocks' in the UFC.
But despite the fact that Du Plessis beats Israel Adesanya and Strickland to successfully defend his title and Chimaev and walk through Robert Whittaker to secure his shot, a UFC analysts surprisingly does not think that the man who is able to be the world's best middleweight on August 16.
Din Thomas says that Sean Strickland has what is needed to be the best in the world
During a recent appearance at the former Two-Division UFC champion Daniel Cormier's YouTube channel, former fighter Din Thomas made a daring claim about the middleweight division.
Thomas left 'DC' shocked when he claimed that Strickland, who held the title only five months before he lost a split decision to Du Plessis, has the tools to be the world's best on 185 pounds.
“The stories you hear about Sean Strickland from every man at a high level I know who once worked with him, said he is the best man in the room,” said Thomas.
“I believe that he might be the best 185-pound hunter in the world at the moment if he actually puts his energy in the big fighting.
“If he places the same amount of energy that he does to fight YouTubers and have beef with other people, if he uses that energy to fight the best contenders in the big fighting, he would win,” Thomas added.
Strickland was defeated last February in his Rematch against Du Plessis.
Sean Strickland could then be set for a high -profile rematch
While the champion and his next Challenger are preparing for their August setup in Chicago, Strickland is currently not booked for his return to action.
But that does not mean that the former champion is without options. In fact, he has a very controversial.
During a video on his YouTube channel with David Goggins earlier this year, Adesanya Strickland called for a rematch of their UFC 293 Headliner, with 'Tarzan' Memorabel Van Streek by the Nigerian-New Zeelander to win the title.
“I already told Hunter (Campbell),” said Adesanya. “I told my coach here, it's time. I know who, I have a feeling with whom I want to fight.
“You will like this. I can get something back: Sean Strickland. … He beat me reasonably well and square in Sydney, five zero. I have hit my butt badly.
“I do things differently,” Adesanya added. “I don't want to apologize because he defeated me. But then I just want to show him if he has defeated me at my best. So this time I come in and I correct.”
It is still to be seen whether the UFC will support that booking, especially after the most recent update Adesanya claimed that Strickland has stopped after the callout.
