Georgia assistant -Coach David Webb has supported the new goalkeeper of the new Liverpool Giorgi Mhaldashvili to excel in the Premier League.
In an exclusive interview with FlashScore, Webb – who has been assistant – coach of the Georgia National Team since 2023 – spoke about the rising stars in their team, including Mamaardashvili, which signed for Liverpool in 2024 in 2024 in 2024 in 2024.
The goalkeeper was a consistent function in La Liga in the past four seasons, with his shape that attracted Liverpool's attention, who is looking for a long -term successor from Alisson.
Webb – who works with the goalkeeper at international service – admitted that Mamardashvili has all the tools to continue and to become the first choice of the Reds in the future.
“I think that is a target for him (becoming Liverpool number one),” said Webb.
“I think his first goal is to go inside and to settle in the club and try to get an idea and settle there. He knows that Alisson is a world -class goalkeeper; he has the opportunity to learn and also compete for that place.
“But for us in Georgia he is a fantastic keeper. He would call a big player of a big game. So, especially in the euros and games that performed before and then, he produced big rescues at the big moments and he is vital for our team.
“He also has an excellent character; his work ethic is phenomenal. And I think that is a proof of where he is now and where he might be in the future.”

Kvaratskhelia that increases the levels
In addition to Mhamardashvili, Georgia also has one of the best wing players on the planet in PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
The attacker was transferred to the Parisians in January 2025 and quickly won Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Champions League, while he was also nominated for the balloon d'Or.
Kvaratskhelia has so far registered eight goals and eight assists in his short Stint with PSG and becomes an essential part of one of the best parties in world football – something that Webb believes that the level of his national team increases.
Kvaratskhelia's recent statsflash score
“If you have a player of that ability and that talent, it can create a little magic for us at any time, that will certainly help, and he stepped up during the tournament (Euro 2024).
“Mhamardashvili also made a number of really good saves in it. The whole team played well, but the so -called striking players really came into their own.
“So if you have such a player, one who can score goals and one side that can stop that goals, it certainly gives you a little reassurance as a coach to know that they will produce when they have to be at the big moment.
“We have seen him improve dramatically over the past two or three years, not only improve the ball with his quality, and of course the influence he has at large competitions, but his working speed if you look at some of his statistics of the ball, especially during the Champions League matches, it was phenomenal.
“I think when you see the big players doing the work, especially outside the ball, this can only increase the standards for everyone, because we know that he can produce magic at the top of the field, but is also part of the game to help your teammates when you are out and he does that enormously.”
Coach a diverse team of players
Having top stars such as Kvaratskhelia and Mamardashvili helps to increase the standards of Georgia's national team, but the team as a whole has an impressive gathering.
There have been times in the past when different countries or clubs have well documented the egos of their top stars, sometimes at the expense of the team's general performance.
However, that is not the case with Georgia, with WebB proud of the close nature of the team-IS that served them well at Euro 2024, where they reached the last 16, despite the lowest ranked team in the tournament.
“The good thing about Georgia's national team is that the dynamics are really strong. I have noticed very early that it is a very strong unity within the team; the dynamics is that everyone is for everyone. It is a very tight nation in terms of those who support each other.
“There are no egos in the camp at all, especially from some of our larger players at larger clubs.
“We have the way we want to play, maintained all week and the players have to stick to it, whether they are at PSG, whether in Watford, Lyon, Sporting or other clubs, it is up to everyone to compete at a level.
“We are lucky, there are no egos within the group. It is a real close -knit group because many of these players have also played with each other by the younger age groups. Many of them are also friends, instead of players only, so that makes the atmosphere, the environment and the culture really good for coaching.”
Georgia will start their qualification campaign from World Cup next month, opposite Turkey and Bulgaria.
