The potential involvement of Aston Villa in a semi-final of the Champions League could have a large knock-on effect on the schedule, whereby the side of Unai Emery is also confronted with Crystal Palace in the semi-final of the FA Cup
Aston Villa could play their FA Cup-Halve final on Saturday 26 April. This is due to their potential semi -final of the Champions League the next midweek.
And it could have a big knock-on effect for their opponents Crystal Palace, because they may have to play their Premier League collision with Arsenal, just a few days before the biggest match of their season.
It is clear that Villa must pass Paris Saint Germain in the quarterfinals of the Champions League, but the football club and TV companies cannot wait for the outcome.
The BBC and ITV will go through their choices the next day and that means that the Villa-Palace game may have to be planned on Saturday in the case of the Unai Emery team, which will eventually play a potential semi-final of the Champions League on Tuesday 29 April.
That will probably dictate that Manchester City will be confronted with Nottingham Forest in Wembley on Sunday 27 April. Arsenal would play in the Emirates on Saturday 26 April, so that will have to be played again.
And one of the dates that are discussed is the previous midweek due to a potential backlog of Premier League lovel. That may mean that Palace has to go to Arsenal on the previous Tuesday or Wednesday 22/23.
It is unlikely that it will be a popular step for Palace, because it would mean that they have a midweek fixture for their FA Cup-half final, which is one of their biggest games for years.
The choices will be sorted in the coming days, but even in the final round the match meant that Chaos meant that Premier League matches had to be moved.
The FA Cup trek was done on Sunday at Hasty Fashion on Preston because the BBC had rights to the semi-final draw, which means that ITV will have it next time. That explains why the trek was made before the last game of the quarterfinals round when City won in Bournemouth.
City has an excellent record in the competition under manager Pep Guardiola, who quickly points out that his party has now reached the semi -final for seven years in a row.
In the meantime, Palace has never won the FA Cup, but lost in the final in 1990 and 2016. Villa are seven -time winners, although their last triumph arrived in 1957 and Forest raised the trophy twice in 1898 and 1959.
